Personality Profile

I've always found these "personality tests" to be kind of fun. But that's about it... I think that is would be very hard for a multiple choice test to really pin down exactly who we are as people. Do they offer some insight? Sure, maybe they can tell you about how you are in exactly this moment. In the present. But I think they fail to recognize that humans are adaptable and changing constantly. So, while I offer my results to both the Myers Briggs and StrengthsFinder, know that I don't really let these letters and words define me.

Myers Briggs
I've taken these tests a few times and have had several results (hence why I am hesitant to really 'buy into' these things). However, I will say my dominant two results have been INTJ and INFJ. So whether I'm thoughtful or a feely sort of person, I am unsure. But, the other three letters appear time and time again. So what does this mean? Who am I? According to those at "16 Personalities" I am an architect or an advocate. Again... Why can't I be both? Why am I defined by either of these.

StrengthsFinder
Woohoo. Another multiple choice test that tells me who I am. And, it's Virginia Tech's favorite. Because, somehow, we can take a magic 30 minute quiz and be put perfectly into teams, hold hands, and sing kumbaya. Or at least that's how Housing and Residence Life and the RLC used to think. Anyways, I kind of like this test. I think it tells us a lot about what we already know about ourselves.

Developer- People strong in the Developer theme recognize and cultivate the potential in others. They spot the signs of each small improvement and derive satisfaction from these improvements.

Individualization- People strong in the Individualization theme are intrigued with the unique qualities of each person. They have a gift for figuring out how people who are different can work together productively.

Futuristic- People strong in the Futuristic theme are inspired by the future and what could be. They inspire others with their visions of the future.

Learner- People strong in the Learner theme have a great desire to learn and want to continuously improve. In particular, the process of learning, rather than the outcome, excites them.

Achiever- People strong in the Achiever theme have a great deal of stamina and work hard. They take great satisfaction from being busy and productive.

The Craig McKenzie Test (ie what I think about me)
I generally think of myself as a very outgoing person. I love people. Truly, I have to sit down an solidly think about people I don't like because I try and get along with everyone. I am a thinker though, and like to be conservative with my judgement. It takes me time to formulate an opinion on my own and at that point I'm pretty set in my beleifs. But, at the same time, I'm open to hearing what others have to say too. I am also certainly a planner. Very type A. I like to spend a lot of time planning events, my week, organization structure, etc. And once it's planned, I'll be darned if it doesn't go to plan.
